ROTARY DISTRICT 6840

PEOPLE OF ACTION

Serving Our Communities When Help Is Needed Most

Service Above Self in Action

Rotary District 6840 brings Rotarians, clubs, volunteers, and community partners together to make a difference throughout our communities.

Whether responding after a disaster, supporting a local service project, assisting vulnerable residents, or helping another community in need, Rotarians are People of Action.

Our strength is our local connection. Rotary clubs know their communities — the people, businesses, churches, nonprofits, government leaders, first responders, and organizations that can come together when help is needed.

WHEN DISASTER STRIKES, ROTARY RESPONDS

Hurricanes, tornadoes, floods, severe storms, and other disasters can quickly overwhelm a community. Rotary District 6840 helps organize Rotarians and community volunteers to respond where they can make the greatest impact.

✔ Disaster cleanup and debris removal

✔ Flood cleanup and muck-and-gut projects

✔ Chainsaw and storm cleanup teams

✔ Distribution of food, water, and emergency supplies

✔ Wellness checks and survivor support

✔ Volunteer registration and coordination

✔ Community recovery and rebuilding projects

✔ Supporting local charities and relief organizations

You don't have to be a disaster expert to help.
There are opportunities for people of different ages, backgrounds, skills, and physical abilities.

MORE THAN DISASTER RESPONSE

Rotarians Serving Year-Round

Service doesn't begin or end with a disaster. District 6840 can use this volunteer network to bring people together for community service projects throughout the year.

Rotary clubs can organize projects addressing local needs, recruit volunteers, connect with community partners, and provide opportunities for Rotarians and non-Rotarians to serve side by side.

It's Service Above Self in action.

LOCAL PARTNERSHIPS. GREATER IMPACT.

District 6840 works alongside local charities, churches, nonprofits, businesses, government agencies, emergency management, first responders, and other community organizations.

These partnerships help connect volunteers with organizations already doing important work and allow communities to use their people and resources more effectively.

We bring people together to strengthen our communities.

ADDITIONAL DISASTER SUPPORT WHEN NEEDED

Rotary District 6840 leads its local volunteer and community response efforts.

When a disaster requires additional capabilities, District 6840 can partner with Disaster Aid USA for additional resources and support when available.

This can include experienced disaster team leads, specialized equipment and trailers, volunteer-management support, training, communications resources, and additional disaster-response capabilities.

The goal is simple: build strong local Rotary capabilities while having additional resources available when a major disaster requires them.

PEOPLE OF ACTION START WITH PEOPLE WILLING TO SERVE

You don't have to wait for the next disaster to get involved.

Rotarians, friends of Rotary, businesses, churches, community organizations, and individual volunteers are encouraged to join the District 6840 volunteer network.
